Home of the 3rd Earl of Effingham, Builder of the present house, Lord of the Manor of Rotherham and Kimberworth and of General Kenneth Howard, one of Wellington’s Generals. Archaeological evidence of a Mediaeval Iron- making Grange and Tudor Hall. Later an Asylum for Mentally ill Ladies and, later still, for seriously mentally ill children. Now residential properties



Entrance is free, (as always in The Heritage Open Day Scheme),

Parties will be conducted round in an approximately hour long tour. The house is open only on Sat 9th Sept,, 4p.m ,( last tour)

Refreshments will be available       .

Any large parties should book in advance (0114 2453660, The house will be available to wheel chairs, as will the grounds unless the weather is poor. Parking is in the house car park. The House is off Grange Lane between the Wortley Road and Shire Green (all details on the Heritage Open Days Web Site)
